Weld RE-4 School District Wellness Missions
We believe improved health optimizes student performance potential. We agree that children who are mentally, physically, and emotionally healthy are more likely to learn in the classroom.
Weld RE-4 School District wellness missions include:
- Promoting healthy schools by supporting student wellness, good nutrition, and regular physical activity as part of the total learning environment
- Contributing to the basic health status of students by facilitating learning in our schools through the support and promotion of good nutrition and physical activity
Wellness Policy
Weld RE-4 School District has developed a Wellness Policy that is focused on improving the health of students. The policy was developed by the district wellness committee that included teachers, parents, administrators, and the district nurse. If you are interested in the most recent assessment or helping develop, review, update and implement changes to our current school wellness policy, please contact Laura Stoneman at laura.stoneman@weldre4.org.
Sharing the Message of Wellness
One of our goals is to share the message of nutrition and wellness via our department's website that emphasizes the importance of nutrition AND fitness. Our site provides information and a variety of learning tools on nutrition and fitness for teachers, parents, and students.
Wellness Missions for all Schools
Balance is essential for any Wellness Policy, and our policy does indeed promote the balance between good nutrition and adequate physical activity for our students. Our wellness policy reflects that our schools and community empower students and staff to make positive choices for a lifetime in order to develop healthy lifestyles that support academic success and professional growth.
Wellness missions for all Weld RE-4 District schools include:
- Providing nutrition education
- Supporting regular physical activity
- Offering other school-based activities that are designed to promote student wellness, good nutrition, and regular physical activity as part of the total learning environment
Please visit our Nutrition Services website here periodically to see what exciting events and activities are occurring in our schools to promote wellness.
Weld County RE-4 loves healthy students!
